[Sidekicks and Trackers ] Re: 98 tracker 1.6 16v automatic

richmondtracker - Had a chance to stop by my local Auto Zone and have the codes read. They stated that the check engine light needed to be on to retrive any trouble codes. Whenever I start the tracker (warm) and press on the accerlator, the engine will start, however it feels like it is loaded up with fuel until it clears it's self. Got any ideas on what to do next???

It never seems to mean anything, so don't get too excited when you see them. Look for other "P" codes. I wouldn't mess with the pins on the connector if you're not sure of what you're doing. A cheap Innova OBD scan tool costs less than $40 from Amazon, so it's a reasonable addition to your toolbox.

A friend of mine was telling me that I could use a paper clip to make the check engine light flash any trouble codes that are stored in the computer. That's fine, but which terminals do I use? Of course he failed to know how to do that. That surly would be helpful if someone has done that.

Whenever the engine is warm you must press down on the accelerator to get the engine to start. After starting the engine runs fine with no hesitation or missing. I'm wondering if it maybe a sensor issue or carbon issue (128,000) on the clock. Thanks in advance for your help.....
